at least i can grow a beard.

I don't know when or why I started this blog, but here it is. I don't really have anything interesting in my life to blog about, and quite frankly I don't think people have much interest in having this kind of insight into my life. Having said that, I find myself in the midst of complete and utter boredom since spring break has started and I need things other than television and wandering the crappy city of Holladay to occupy my time.

Funny thing about breaks like these; when I know they are coming up I tend to get very excited and even start to count the days left until the said break starts. But when it finally arrives I find myself looking forward to it being over. This would be different if I could find things to do, but alas I have a bit of a motivation problem. I like having routines, and even in my hobbies I tend to be much more productive when I work on things outside of school and work.

So here is a list of possible things I might try to accomplish during the remainder of my week long break. More than likely, none of these things will get done, but at least it's wishful thinking.

  • Buy a hat: I've always wanted a hat.
  • Visit a train yard: I do not know how many train yards there are in Utah and my irrational fear of the homeless may hold me back, but I always have wanted to visit one. I like seeing the different types of graffiti and though I don't have any interests in trains, it would be fun to see them none the less.
  • Get my hair cut: This is not necessarily something I need to right now but it's something to do.
  • Wander the remnants of the old cottonwood mall: If you haven't already gathered this, I like to wander. You find the most interesting things I think by just wandering about, and whether it's a city, a building or Ikea, I always get some pleasure out of it. Though it's mostly just dirt now, I've long thought about sneaking in there during the night just to see if I can find anything cool. I just have to make sure no one calls the police on me.
  • Get some field recordings: I was actually going to go out and do this tonight but for the most part, Holladay is a silent shithole. I don't even hear crickets most the time when I go outside. I might go up Milcreek tomorrow and just record some various nature sounds. This is a little bit daunting to do in complete dark, but I think once I am up there it will not take very long. I like to get these recordings for ambient backgrounds to put behind music, by the way.
So that is all for now. If I think of more stuff I may or may not post it here. Until next time...
